B.J. Allen

Hi, I'm B.J. Allen. I design and build software in Dallas, TX.

I have a degree in Music Education from the University of Texas at Austin, and I taught middle school and high school band for several years before I realized I was spending more time building a CMS for my classes than preparing lesson plans. I downplayed my teaching experience for a few years, but now I realize how much I value the flexibility and patience gained from teaching 12-18 year-olds how to play musical instruments (oh yeah, and the marching... can't forget about the marching).

Other than keeping up with the latest in technology, I am an admirer of mid-century architecture and furniture as well as an avid runner. I serve as an officer for the DFW Usability Professionals Association and frequent meetings of the Dallas Ruby Brigade and the Dallas .NET User Group. I live near White Rock Lake with my lovely wife and two cats. I bike to work as often as possible.
